When you ship your bike with Wise Move, you know you’re going with some of the best motorcycle transport companies South Africa has to offer. They’ll get the job done – and often from door-to-door too, where they can. More importantly, they’ll do their utmost to keep your bike safe during transit – but there are also things you can do yourself ahead of the delivery to give yourself the peace-of-mind you deserve.

To give you a better idea of what you can do to prepare your bike, we’ve come up with this helpful guide to make sure the delivery is smooth and damage-free:
Do a thorough inspection — the first step you’ll want to take in preparation should be to run a complete check over the vehicle. You’ll want to look out for any loose part so that you can prevent anything falling apart while the bike is being moved.
Complete a deep clean — next, you should grab the cleaning equipment and go over the entire motorbike. Doing so will give you the chance to spot any hidden blemishes, marks or damage before transit, so that if anything happens, you’ll be able to spot it.
Keep a record of any problems — if you find any damaged areas or scratches, keep a dated note of them. Take pictures where you can and send these to the moving company so that you have a full record of what the condition is of the bike before it goes.
Remove all personal items — if you have any small and personal items attached to the bike, like decorations and saddlebags, make sure you take these off and transport them yourself. Your movers are only responsible for the bike, not for any extra possessions attached to it
Make sure your bike is good to drive — your bike may need to be ridden to its final (final) destination, so you’ll want to be sure the tires are full pumped up, and that there’s at least a quarter of fuel in the tank. Don’t get it totally filled up because this will add unnecessary weight for the transport.
Also, always be as clear as you can with your job delivery request. Our movers are good, but they always do their best work with the most information that you can provide – so no matter how small a detail, add it in where you can.
