Our transport services comprise a combination of self-drive, rollback, and auto-carrier services. Every truck in our fleet is fitted with a satellite tracking device, and loads are also insured during transit (subject to specific terms and conditions) to give you peace of mind. Unfortunately, I had a very poor experience with Intercity Auto Movers. Overall, a disappointing experience marked by unclear pricing, poor communication, delays, a broken truck and unresolved issues:
The issues started when I accepted their initial quote, which turned out to be for a service I had not requested. I specifically requested door-to-door transport, but they quoted me for depot-to-depot service. This made their quote appear significantly cheaper than those of other providers.
After accepting the quote, I was informed that they needed to requote for door-to-door service. The revised quote was approximately 40% higher than the original. After accepting the second quote, I noticed in the fine print that, despite being described as a door-to-door service, an Intercity employee would drive my vehicle from my home to and from a depot located more than 60 km away. It was only after I questioned this that they arranged an actual door-to-door service.
Communication throughout the process was also poor. I had to follow up multiple times to find out when my vehicle would be collected, and I was not informed when it was ultimately delivered. At one point, I also received emails containing information about another vehicle they were transporting, which was concerning.
Unfortunately, the transport itself was further delayed when the truck broke down somewhere in Gauteng while carrying my vehicle.
I was also disappointed with the vehicle inspection process. I was told about their "diligent inspection process" at collection and delivery, so when I noticed what appeared to be additional dents and scratches on my vehicle upon arrival, I requested copies of the inspection reports. Despite following up multiple times, these reports have still not been provided.
Overall, the experience was frustrating and fell well short of what I expected. In hindsight, I regret not paying a little extra to use a different provider.
